Selena Despins, LPC-IT, is a Licensed Professional Counselor In Training who works with adolescents, couples, and individuals. She earned her Master of Science in Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wisconsin–Superior. Selena also holds a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, a certificate in Healthcare Management, and an associate’s degree in Human Resources and Organizational Leadership.

Selena brings extensive experience as a crisis worker, having served over 30 counties throughout Wisconsin. In this role, she supported individuals experiencing suicidal and homicidal ideations, active psychosis, and other acute mental health crises. She collaborated with clients to develop personalized safety plans and connect them with appropriate resources, always prioritizing the least restrictive and most supportive outcomes. Her clinical background also includes working with Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) and outpatient day treatment programs for children ages 6 to 14. These experiences shaped her integrative, trauma-informed approach to mental health care and enhanced her ability to work across diverse populations and presenting concerns.

Before entering the mental health field, Selena worked in supervisory and training roles, where she discovered her passion for helping others grow personally and professionally. This foundation in leadership, communication, and goal-setting continues to inform her therapeutic work today. Selena is a dedicated advocate for mental health awareness and is passionate about helping clients build fulfilling lives through insight, resilience, and connection. She draws upon her education, crisis work, and leadership experience to support clients in navigating life’s challenges and discovering their strengths.

Outside of her professional life, Selena enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs. They love hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, and traveling—especially to national parks. So far, they’ve explored 23 U.S. national parks and 5 international ones. Selena is also a devoted reader, video gamer, rockhounder, and jewelry maker.
